James interviews Michelle Mora, a triple boarded neurologists, specializing in epilepsy and intraoperative neuromonitoring.

In this episode, Dr. Mora talks about her days as a wildland firefighter, her interest in geology, and the impact her family and mentors have had on her life and career. She discusses the DNA of a quality IONM reading physician and what makes an excellent technologist.

We discuss her volunteer work, her aspirations as ASNM president elect, and her concerns for the field of IONM.

About Michelle

Dr. Mora is an EEG and intraoperative neuromonitoring physician whose interests include electrocorticography, EEG, and all forms of neuroaxis mapping from the cortex to the peripheral nerves.

She attended medical school in California at Touro University College of Osteopathic Medicine, completed residency through Michigan State University at the Ascension Health System in Detroit and completed fellowship in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan. She is triple boarded in neurology, clinical neurophysiology and intraoperative neuromonitoring.

She is also an item writer and subject matter expert for the neurology and clinical neurophysiology board exams. She serves as a volunteer EEG reader for underserved countries around the world.

When not working Dr. Mora enjoys volunteering, spending time with her husband, and being in the company of her many furry, 4-legged office mates.
